The Strowger Telecomms Page

Welcome to the Strowger Telecomms Page !

Until the 1990's, much of the telecomms infrastructre of the UK still relied on electromechanical switching, based on principles invented by Almon B. Strowger. Old Strowger exchanges were something to see, touch and hear - nowadays, modern exchanges are just anonymous silent blue cabinets. These pages celebrate clunky history !
