The Telecomms Heritage Group

The Telecomms Heritage Group is a non-profit making society run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts and anyone interested in Telecomms History. The interests of the group cover :

  • Old Telephones and Telegraph equipment
  • Kiosks, Police Call Posts
  • Automatic or manual exchanges, PABXs, switchboards
  • Preservation of Strowger equipment
  • Old pole routes, insulators etc.
  • The GPO, including vehicles and buildings
  • Numbering schemes
  • Preserved Railway Telecomms
  • Stories and anecdotes from technicians

The T.H.G. publish a newsletter TH News four times a year and also Telecomms Heritage Digest, a more thorough magazine. These publications have various articles of interest, information of where to get help and classified for sale/wanted adverts. Back issues of TH News/Digest are also available. The THG also organise 'swapmeets' at various times of the year where you can meet other enthusiasts and buy/sell old phones, exchange parts and other such items.

There is a small annual membership fee which covers the cost of journals and magazines.
